2009 The Good, The Great, and The Gorgeous year in Review

December 20, 2009: At 1:54 a.m. little Ryan Lamont Smith was born. I arrived just in time, but missed the birth. I wasn't the only one. This little baby waited on no one. He was born in my sisters jogging pants on a stretcher while being rushed to an open emergency room. My sister the Professional Chef I always talk about in class is doing well after a natural birth. I also took her placenta and made it into powder to put into pill capsules. Consumption of the placenta after birth stimulates milk production and helps to prevent postpartum depression. Animals in the wild do it all the time. Check out her website at www.cakecrumbsonline.com. Everything is made into a cake on her site, she has amazing talent.

November 2009: I served a Living Raw Vegan Thanksgiving Meal to over 40 people this year and everyone was pleasantly surprised. I also held Alissa Cohen Chef and Instructor courses, "Congratulations to all of my graduates this year".

October 2009: Health Fair at Victory Christian Church International in Gaithersburg, MD 11-2 p.m and then Candy, Candy, Candy at The Common Market in Frederick, MD from 3-5 p.m. You do the math! Who knew you could get full by eating healthy raw candy that taste like the real thing. Well, we did, you tried it and now we have no excuses! "I had only 1 group of kids ring my bell all night. Strange"!

September 2009: By far one of my busiest months of the year! I spent 14 days in Boston, MA selling Vita Mix machines. I taught 4 two-hour raw food classes in 4 days, traveled back and forth from Maryland and New Jersey 4 times in two weeks and ended the month with a 10 hour health fair. I started teaching Raw Food Classes at the Edgewater Whole Foods in New Jersey.

August 2009: My daughter turned 11 years old, she is my mini me and so much more! We celebrated her birthday at Seaside Heights Beach in New Jersey. My family and I presented the Vita Mix at the first Raw Spirit Festival in Washington, DC! This was one of my Summer Highlights! The best raw food ever was served at this outdoor festival. My husband met many raw foodist who have lost tons of weight and has decided to go 100% raw. Thank God! I must thank my children as well for being so helpful at my raw food classes this year! Thanks Chickens! (That is my pet name for my children, since we don't eat it we must at least be able to say it!)

July 2009: My son suffered a concussion July 1, 2009 playing outside with a friend, he survived. I catered my first Living Raw meal to 20 non raw foodist. They had rave reviews. I went to six flags with my family and we brought raw food to the park! They don't allow food in the park, but after a cooler search and the realization that they did not serve healthy food at the park that would fit into my diet, they allowed us to enter with our raw food. I had the awesome pleasure of visiting the Frederick, MD Costco to sell the Vita Mix, nice to see everyone again! My dental appointment revealed that I have reversed my pre-periodontal disease. Thanks to night time flossing and brushing and daily use of the water pik. This month I also started teaching Living Raw Food Classes at the New Whole Foods in Annapolis, MD.

June 2009: I love the hot summer months! I taught my second class at the Common Market in Frederick, MD. We had a ball, we were now on a roll with sold out classes and delicious living raw cuisine. I started teaching Raw Food classes at the New Whole Foods in Paramus, NJ.

May 2009: I did the Master Cleanse for 10 days and wrote about it on my blog. Check out my journal. The Master Cleanse is great for a spring time cleanse.

April 2009: I finally made the full transition into a Living Raw Food Lifestyle, which I would recommend at least 80% for everyone. April 19 is the exact day I started eating all raw. I feel great and now realize that once you fully go raw it really is not difficult and you really do feel the difference. My birthday month is April as well, I turned 35! Yippee!!

March 2009: This month was devoted to Vita Mix, I did 4 shows this month, 2 in Michigan and 2 shows in Maryland.

February 2009: My son broke his foot 3 days before turning 12, he was skate boarding and decided to jump 6 stairs. He is a natural in any sport he chooses. He learned this year that he is not tougher than concrete.

January 2009: New Jersey is our new home and we are slowly introducing ourselves to the city! I have to get busy in a new city and by the looks of it, I did!

Enjoy my No Bonez year in review!

Happy New Year to you and your family!!!!!

Thanksgiving Meal Whole Foods Edgewater, NJ

Thank you to the New Jersey Gals that came out on Wednesday night, we had a ball, the food was delicious, it was my pleasure to serve you!

Thanksgiving meal time can be delicious, nutritious and overwhelmingly satisfying. I have had the honor of serving over 30 people a raw Thanksgiving Meal and I must say everyone was pleasantly surprised, from Maryland to New Jersey. My guests ate things they have never eaten raw, like sweet potatoes, enjoyed foods they don't like cooked, like Raw Kale, and who knew you could make a savory stuffing that does not go in the oven.  The classes also enjoyed an Apple Pie made in 10-15 minutes that taste better than the cooked version.

I think I have managed to convince a few people that eating a raw diet is totally satisfying and surprisingly easy! I have posted my Living Raw Vegan Thanksgiving Recipes down below in the recipe section. Enjoy them with your families this Holiday Season and don't miss my December class for great Christmas Recipes at The Common Market in Frederick, MD.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed with the desire to eat healthy, but Thanksgiving is here?

Have a Plan for the Parade!  Here goes:

1. Drink lots of water 2 hours before meal time, 32-48 oz.
2. Make a plate, then take half the food off and wrap it for the next day.
3. Share one piece of desert with someone else or do number 2. (Not that #2)
4. Bring your own healthy meal, prepare enough to last the rest of the week, (your healthy leftovers) and bring a healthy desert to share.
5. Traveling? Find a healthy market and prepare something great from my Thanksgiving Recipes, even one dish can be a satisfying meal.
a.  Please share why you are eating differently and the benefits or changes that you have noticed, and share my website with everyone :).
6.  Travel with your Vita Mix, you must not leave home without it, make green drinks daily, as if your life depended on it!
7.  Going home for the holidays often causes emotional cravings for comfort food!  Be on alert, ask yourself three questions before you indulge.
1. Why am I having this craving? (Healthy or Emotional Craving)
  2. How will I feel after I eat this, is their a healthy substitute?
3.  Am I doing the greatest good to my body or do I care at the moment?

The decision is yours.........................
What ever you decide accept your decision with love, peace and joy!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

One hour could change your life! If I have not had an opportunity to speak with you about your health, schedule a Health History Consultation, please give me a call or send me an email. The Cinnamon Rolls, Key Lime Pie and Apple Cobblers all sold out! The selection also included Strawberry Shortcakes. That was fun and I will have more!

I have great classes coming up in November in Frederick, MD and also New Jersey, please check my schedule for dates and time.

Thank you for your support, lets finish this year with Raw Spirits (Raw- happy, pure, clean, energetic) and look forward to a Win, Win, 2010!!!

Make today your Best Day EVER!

Hello Everyone!

I've been missing in action! But, I'm working on some exciting opportunities! Major announcements coming soon.

October is known for it's "not so healthy" relationship with Candy. So, I will tell you what I make my kids without compromising their immune systems, Raw Candy!!

October is also a Month of dryness. As we get further away from the warm days of summer you may be experiencing dry skin. Please use up the lotions you have and from now on don't put anything on your skin that you can not eat! It all ends up in your body! 100% Organic and Unprocessed Coconut Oil is great for skin and hair. Hydration is key to having beautiful skin as well, drink half your weight in ounces of water daily! I drink 100 ounces of water daily and I only weigh 145 lbs. You can do it! I believe in you!!

More Recipes to come...........can you say Apple Pie, Chocolate, and Caramel

MAJOR NEWS FLASH ABOUT ME OF COURSE

I have just enrolled as a student at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, to become a Certified Holistic Health Counselor! This is major news because I have been considering this for 2 years.

I'm receiving my training to practice Health Counseling at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, which is the only nutrition school integrating all the different dietary theories—combining the knowledge of traditional philosophies with modern concepts like the USDA food pyramid, the glycemic index, the Zone and raw foods. My certification is pending and will be completed in June 2010.

As a student I will begin to accept clients at my student rates.

After Graduation in June 2010 my 12 week programs go to full price.

Please contact me to see what one hour a week can do for your health!

Tahini Milk Shake & Raw Granola

1/4 Artisana Raw Organic Tahini (you can make Tahini in the Vita Mix using Sesame Seeds)
3-4 cups of water, start with 3 cups if more is needed add additional cup
1 1/2 tsp. organic vailla
1-2 tablespoons raw honey or agave

Blend well and enjoy! Milk will be slightly warm, perfect for the holidays with a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg!

3 cups Organic Rolled Oats
10 pitted Medjool Dates
1/2-1 tablespoon Cinnamon
1 tsp Nutmeg
1 Gala apple, or your favorite
1/2 Tbsp vanilla
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 cup sprouted pumpkin seeds, chopped

Blend first 7 ingredients in your Vita Mix until smooth and pour over oats and pumpkin seeds. Mix well and spread on dehydrator sheets to dry over night at 110 degrees. Owey, Goowey, Soft and Chewey Raw Brownies by Chelly

*Soak and dry nuts, my almonds were soaked and dried, the cashews soaked for 6 hours but were wet when used. All ingredients raw and organic.

1 cup almonds
1/2 cup cashews
1/8 tsp Pink Himalayan Salt
1/2 Tbsp Carob
4 Tbsp Cacao
3 Tbsp Agave, or 3-4 dates, or raw honey
2-3 Tbsp Cacao nibs, to cover brownies

Blend all ingredients in food processor or Vita Mix until dough forms, Food Processor is easier because of the space. Use a spatula to wipe sides of container frequently.

Form into brownies on a plate sprinkle and press cacao nibs onto the top of the brownies, and dehydrate 104 degrees for 1-2 hours to dry out just a tad or enjoy as is.

You can make a Cacao or Carob frosting or chocolate sauce to top your brownies or add walnuts, you can also add fresh mint to your brownies and make mint chocolate chip brownies.

Enjoy!

AGAVE

I know it seems that we have already made huge improvements in our heatlh, especially if you have achieved the level of being a raw vegetarian/vegan (I'm using this term now because I occassionally use honey/maple syrup when recipes call for them, however honey comes from bees and maple syrup is not raw) but we should always remain teachable and act as servants.

I have posted this link to share what I'm learning about AGAVE, the beloved sweetner. I just bought my last bottle. I have noticed the more you use it the more you want it. We used to make our smoothies with no sweetener at all, now that is all my husband and children use. I have at least gotten them to cut back. I prefer more banana, sweeter fruit or dates.

http://renegadehealth.com/blog Look down the page for episode #374 AGAVE RE-VISITED

Agave
* does not have a high glycemic index, but that does not make it automatically healthy
* high in fructose, does not cause blood sugar spike, but has no fiber
* fructose is the natural sugar found in fruit, but fruit has fiber which helps our bodies to absorb, digest and properly utilize the fructose
* Negative affects of Agave - causes insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, uric acid build up in your liver (fatty liver)

Better sweeteners to use:
Apples, bananas, peaches, berries, grapes with seeds, pineapples, dates, raisins, stevia (green leaf powder)

No-Bonez Notes of the Day!!

Slow gradual changes will help you to appreciate the journey even more, when we know better, we can then do better!

Knowledge is power and when you have been given the knowledge, it is up to you to use it.

Listen to your bodies love language, what are you addicted to?

RAW FOOD AND ME

I HAVE BEEN RAW FOR 4 MONTHS!!! I WAS ABOUT 90% RAW FOR 14 MONTHS, I'VE BEEN A VEGETARIAN FOR 5 YEARS!!!

I CAN NOT CALL MYSELF 100% RAW VEGAN BECAUSE I WILL USE HONEY, IT IS IN THE BIBLE AND IN ITS RAW UNPROCESSED STATE I DON'T MIND IT, HOWEVER I RARELY USE IT, HARDLY BUY IT AND DON'T LIKE THE TASTE MUCH AND IT CAUSES MY TEETH TO BE MORE SENSITIVE, YOU GET THE IDEA.

I ALSO EAT ORGANIC OLIVES THAT ARE NOT RAW, HOWEVER THEY ARE TOO EXPENSIVE AND YOU DON'T GET MUCH, AND TOO SALTY. I ALSO USE BRAGGS LIQUID AMINOS, RARELY, ONLY IF A RECIPE CALLS FOR IT, MY SON LOVES IT ON NUT MEATS AND IN SOUPS. I ALSO USE AGAVE, THAT SAYS RAW AND ORGANIC BUT IT IS NOT, ONLY THE CLEAR AGAVE THAT CAN NOT BE PURCHASED FROM REGULAR HEALTH FOOD STORES IS REALLY RAW UNPROCESSED AGAVE.

CHECK OUT MY STORE NATURAL ZING AND MY WWW.RAWTEACHER.COM/CHELLY SITE FOR GREAT PRICES ON RAW OLIVES, AGAVE, NUTS, AND OTHER RAW GOODIES!!!

I HAVE MENTIONED ALL THIS TO SAY........

I LOVE YOU IF YOU EAT MEAT AND EVEN IF YOU DONT! I FEEL BETTER NOT EATING MEAT, DAIRY, FISH, COOKED & PROCESSED FOODS, SUGAR AND NON ORGANIC PRODUCE. I FEEL BETTER LEADING BY EXAMPLE AND REALLY TRULY PRACTICING WHAT I PREACH/TEACH!!

I DON'T CHEAT, MY STOVE HOLDS BOWLS FILLED WITH FRUIT AND RECIPE BOOKS, MY MICROWAVE HOLDS DISHES AND IS A SPROUTER, MY OVEN HOLDS MORE DISHES. I WOULD LOVE FOR EVERYONE TO EXPERIENCE THE RAW DIET AND GREAT HEALTH.

I HAVE WITNESSED RECOVERY FROM SICKNESS AND DISEASE WITHIN MY OWN FAMILY AND TREMENDOUS WEIGHT LOSS AND RENEWED ENERGY. I WANT THIS FOR EVERYONE!!!

IT IS MY PRAYER THAT IF YOU NEED HELP OR GUIDANCE YOU WILL CALL ON ME. INTEGRITY IS IMPORTANT TO ME, I SAY WHAT I MEAN AND MEAN WHAT I SAY.

I ENJOY THE RAW DIET BECAUSE I FEEL GOOD, HEALTHY, STRONG, ENERGIZED, I'M FREE!!

FREE FROM THE QUILT OF EATING FOOD THAT MAKES ME FEEL HEAVY, LETHARGIC, MOODY, DEPRESSED, SICK, FULL, GUILTY.

MY CHILDREN ARE HEALTHY THEY LOVE GREEN DRINKS, ALL VEGETABLES AND FRUITS. MY HUSBAND JUST LOST ANOTHER 15 LBS IN ONE WEEK, HE NOW RUNS (WE LAUGH AND CALL IT A SLOW TROT) TO AND FROM WORK, IT'S ABOUT 7 TO 8 MANHATTAN BLOCKS. WE HAD A GOOD LAUGH THE OTHER NIGHT!! A LADY IN HIGH HEELS JUST WALKS PAST HIM WHILE HE IS RUN/TROTTING TO WORK. HE WEIGHS 430 LBS SO HE IS DOING AWESOME. MOVE YOUR BODY, EAT HEALTHY BUT MOVE YOUR BODY, 30 MINUTES PER DAY.

Green Drinks!!!!

I realized recently that I've been making the same green drink recipe for over a year alternating the greens of course, but the same basic fruit apple, bananas and lemon. It's time for a change so here are some recipes that I will be making.

Kale & Apples by Chef Chelly
1 large bunch of kale
2 apples (gala or pink lady) My favorites!!
1/2 lemon with peel

Level I Chef Certification Class

This class was so fun and the time flew by!! Thank you for attending this 4 hour intensive RAW FOOD class. We had a ball!!

Here are just a few thoughts from the class:
A BIG THANK YOU!!! That was a tremendous class, again you exceeded my expectations! I made the corn salad for dinner that night for friends. It was so good! Wish Level II was this weekend. It was great fun spending the day with you and all the delightful women in our class, not to mention all that we learned. M

- the more you learn the more you know we BETTER return to God's way of eating. Thought of you yesterday afternoon as I made the Collard wraps & guacamole - it was good but not as good as yours. And I must commend you again on the ease of your preparations, etc cause girl, my kitchen did NOT look like yours did - ha - but don't have a food processor used a chopper that kinda minced the carrot & zucchini - but again it was good - yesterday was an almost total raw day - 97%. Thank YOU for the presentation & the wisdom imparted - truly you DO show people raw is easy & delicious - be well - be greatly blessed - M

Hi, Chelly, Gosh, I don't know where to begin to say Thank You for such a great day. Your personality just added to the fun and also that of your daughter. What a sweet, polite young lady she is. It was so much fun to be around her. I learned so much today and was so surprised at the food items. I just had no idea what it would be like. Thanks for the encouragement and knowing that I can contact you if I have questions. Came home tonight and several of us went out for Pizza (of all things!!). First of all I surely wasn't hungry and second...it didn't even sound good! Everyone wanted to know why I wasn't eating!! My glass of water was delicious and now I am going to bed and dream of all the good food you fixed today and think about what I can do about my eating habits. Thanks again. I know this is a lot of work for you but how nice of you to share your passion- J

CCC's: Coconut, Chocolate, Cherry Cookies

Enjoy these dehydrated or not!  They looked cooked!
*all ingredients raw and organic*

Cookie Dough
1/2 C almonds
1/2 C walnuts
1 T cacao, ground
1 T carob, ground
1/8 cup coconut butter or less
1 1/2 T agave
5 T shredded coconut, just enough to see specks in the dough

15 large dried cherries

Make butter out of nuts, do not over mix releasing the natural oils, add other ingredients, except cherries.  It should look like ground nut meat with white coconut specks.  Form into balls the size of a quarter.  Press one dried cherry in the center and form a beautiful cookie.  Eat as is or dehydrate over night (104-115) or longer until dry.  Cookie may be oily, so dehydrating will help, you can use less coconut butter or just grind/chop nuts until just before they form a smooth nut butter.  Let me know how yours turns out!

PEACHES ARE IN SEASON

My family from Michigan is visiting this weekend for my daughters 11th Birthday.  So, in honor of the family I've come up with some great recipes, to go in the cookbook of course. Fortunately, my followers/friends to No-Bonez will get these great recipes to try out at home! Let me know what you think!

Sweet Peaches
2-3 large peaches, sliced w/ skin
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1/8 cup agave or honey

Use a glass baking dish, place peaches in the dish, sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon, pour sweetner over.  Dehydrate over night, stir to remix in the morning.  Enjoy as is Yum!! Put over Banana Ice Cream, add to your morning oatmeal or add to your favorite raw cheese cake recipe.

TO DARRICK JR

Go and hug your “Michael” by Maya Angelou…

Yesterday I cried watching the Michael Jackson memorial. I cried for a little
black boy who felt the world didn't understand him. I cried for a little black
boy who spent his adulthood chasing his childhood. And I thought about all the
young black boys out there who may too feel that the world doesn't understand
them. The ones who feel that the world does not understand their baggy jeans,
their swagger, their music, their anger, their struggles, their fears or the
chip on their shoulder. I worry that my son, may too, one day will feel lonely
in a wide, wide world.

I cried for the young children of all colors who may live their life feeling
like a misfit, feeling like no one understands their perspective, or their soul.
What a burden to carry.

As a mother, I cried for Katherine Jackson because no mother should ever bury a
child. Period. And I think about all the pain, tears and sleepless nights that
she must have endured seeing her baby boy in inner pain, seeing him struggle
with his self-esteem, and his insecurities and to know he often felt unloved
even while the world loved him deeply. How does it feel to think that the
unconditional love we give as mothers just isn't enough to make our children
feel whole? I wonder if she still suffers thinking, "what more could I have
done?" Even moms of music legends aren't immune to mommy guilt, I suppose.

When Rev. Al Sharpton ("who always delivers one" awesome "funeral speech") said
to Michael's children, "Your daddy was not strange....It was strange what your
Daddy had to deal with," I thought of all the "strange" things of the world that
my children will have to deal with. Better yet, the things I hope they won't
ever have to deal with anymore.

And as a mother raising a young black boy, I feel recommitted and yet a little
confused as to how to make sure my son is sure enough within himself to take on
the world. Especially a "strange" one. To love himself enough to know that even
when the world doesn't understand you, tries to force you into its mold or
treats you unkindly, you are still beautiful, strong and Black. How do I do
that?

Today, I am taking back "childhood" as an inalienable right for every brown
little one. In a world, that makes children into booty-shaking, mini-adults long
before their time, I'm reclaiming the playful, innocent, run-around-outside,
childhood as the key ingredient in raising confident adults. Second, I will not
rest until my little black boy, MY Michael, knows that his broad nose is
beautiful, his chocolately brown skin is beautiful, and his thick hair is
beautiful.

And nothing or no one can ever take that away from him.

"Now aint we bad? And ain't we black? And ain't we fine? ---Maya Angelou

Dear Blog,

So, I have not written in a while. Been Busy, what can I say!! I have lots to tell you. For starters, I woke up this morning and made a mexican flavored breakfast scramble, a salmon pate, jalapeno lime corn chips, and croutons!! Everything is all raw, organic and vegan of course. I also made green drink! We are going to Great Adventures on Monday and since we don't eat traditional amusement park food, we must go prepared. So, I've started early so we can eat like the Kings and Queens that we are!

I have a testimony......some good news........a miracle to share..........an I told you so moment!!!!!

All of those and a bag of raw chips!!!!!

In the search box of my blog, type in "oil pulling". Read that post about my dental appointment and what I was told. Sept. 2, 2008 Post

For starters I did the oil pulling for about 3 months. I did not notice any results, many people have, so I'm not knocking it.

In April, 2009 I purchased a Water Pik, it works just like the tool your dental hygienist uses to squirt water onto your teeth when being cleaned. For 3 months I have flossed ( first off, I've flossed my teeth for 17 years daily), brushed my teeth ( using toothpaste with no fluoride, Nature's Gate/Toms) and I have used the Water Pik (which still removes food even after flossing).

Three Months............**Floss**......**Brush**......**Water Pik** Before Bed, missed 3 nights

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE * I already posted a blog on flossing, but it is best to FLOSS AT NIGHT, a dark mouth is the perfect environment for bacterial growth. Of Course follow with brushing and YES, I brush in the morning, also!!

If you were not able to read my post from Sept. 2, 2008 here is an update: My dentist wanted me to have underneath my gums scrapped and the antibiotic arestin applied to prevent bacterial growth and the advancement of what had already started, periodontal disease (gum disease).

I refused, he yelled at me, "You have gum disease, if you don't do anything about it, it will only get worse. Diet has nothing to do with it!!!!", said Dr. Zaner. Jan. 2008

July 24, 2009: Dr. Zaner said, "Your gums look wonderful, beautiful color, what ever you did keep doing it, it's not there now. They look great!"

As the hygienist cleaned my teeth she said, you have no bleeding at all, that is the first sign of disease, you have no swelling, your diet and preventative care is working, you have prevented the bacteria from growing! All signs of gum disease reversed!!!

So let's review the obvious, shall we????

I eat 100% raw organic vegan food, I floss nightly, brush twice a day and use the water pik nightly. I had gum disease and in Jan. 2009 was told to have the scrapping done and antibiotics applied to kill the bacteria and prevent more growth.

I refused.........because God knows best........and here I am today..........cured.......healed.......better........no bleeding gums........no swollen gums.........just a healthy mouth!!!

Now, just who do I have to thank for all of these blessings??????????????? Only God!!!

No antibiotic, no surgery, no chemicals, no drugs, no cooked food, nothing can do for me what God can.

Coincidentally: He gave us fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds!!!!!!

Good Bye Gum Disease!!!!!

Love,
Chelly

Smoothie Anyone?

The Top 7 Reasons Why Smoothies Can Help You Lose Weight, Boost Your Energy Levels and Create Vibrant Health

By Kevin Gianni - Health Advocate and Author

1. Smoothies deliver a power-packed, slam dunk of nutrients

Smoothies, pound for pound, are some of the most nutrient dense meals. A green smoothie with some fruit and berries can deliver more antioxidants and phytonutrients than most meals eaten by the majority of people around the world. It's also easier to digest, since a good blender will break up the plant fibers for better absorption.

By preparing a smoothie every morning, you can start off your day with the protection of antioxidants, an incredible array of vitamins and nutrients, as well as get the energy and calories you need to go on with you day without getting hunger pangs an hour after your first meal.

2. Anyone can use a blender and make something that tastes awesome.

Yes, this is true. Even the most culinary-challenged individuals can dump smoothie ingredients into a blender and turn it on to make a great tasting smoothie. This applies to kids as well!

Kids and adults alike love the process of blending together their favorite ingredients for an awesome tasting concoction.

QUICK TIP: Adding bok choy or spinach into a fruit smoothie is a great way to sneak some greens into a child's diet!

3. You don't have to be a brain surgeon to create your own recipes.

This isn't like baking where everything needs to be just right.

Like I've already said, anyone can use a blender, but this tip means that you don't have to be overly creative in order to build your own smoothie.

For anyone just starting, usually I'll tell them get some of your favorite fruits and vegetables and start playing around. You'll be amazed at what you come up with.

4. They take literally minutes to prepare (sometimes less!)

The fastest smoothie I've ever made was about 45 seconds (Yes, I timed it!). This can do wonders for your time management!

Studies have shown that most people stress about money and not having enough time in the day. Smoothies can literally buy you 30 minutes or so in the morning--or whenever you choose to make one--so you can get to the things that really matter.

5. They taste amazing.

I may sound like a broken record here, but when done right a great smoothie can transport you to a tropical island or give you the mental clarity of Einstein-ian proportions.

6. They can help detoxify your system.

There are many non-organic and industrial pollutants in our environment that can be the cause of various aliments. So it's extremely important to detox your system to avoid build up of toxic materials.

Adding fruits and herbal tinctures or powders to your smoothies can help the body detox. This is a great way to take many tinctures or powders without having to taste them (some taste notoriously awful, if you ever get a chance try the herb andrographis and you'll know what I mean!).

Many fruits alone are detoxifying, so just making a fruit smoothie can have detoxifying effects on your body.

7. They are fun!

It's hard to think of a meal that is actually fun to make, fun to eat and fun to share. Smoothies happen to be one of those meals!

Every day you can pick new ingredients and try new mixes to create endless recipes and tastes. They're a perfect addition a meal plan that is stagnant and boring and that is not getting you any noticeable results.

With all these reasons and literally dozens more, it's easy to understand why smoothies will work for you.
